Digital information literacy, self-directed learning, and personal knowledge management in critical readers: Application of IDC Theory

The usefulness of self-directed learning ability in education has been demonstrated previous studies. However, there much less understanding the importance digital information literacy, as well how to manage these abilities and knowledge, their effects on processes, especially current situation dominance necessity interest creation students. In order address such needs evaluate students, determine effectiveness Interest-Driven Creator (IDC) loops, this study was conducted. study, 164 English language students were asked participate pre-test, treatment, post-test while treatments for IDC group developed form interest-creation-habit triple loops. results represented that hybrid instruction more effective strengthening literacy personal knowledge management; outperformed non-IDC terms skills. These findings also revealed develop critical readers, addition skills apply acquired instructions (i.e., loops) have effective. IDC-hybrid identified features participation, perception-interest facility-opportunity most significant tangible ones.
